About
The Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Fund is administered by the Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Board, established under the Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Act 1985. The Act sets out the functions, responsibilities and duties of the Board and provides the framework within which it operates. The Board is also responsible for ensuring that the Fund complies with Government legislation, that benefits are paid correctly and that the Fund’s assets are appropriately invested.
THE BOARD
The Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Board is the Trustee of FES Super. The Superannuation Board is responsible for managing FES Super in the best interests of all members and for ensuring that FES Super is run in accordance with its governing legislation.
There are six Board members, with an equal number of employer-appointed and member-elected members.
The current Board members are:

Board Members Responsibilities
Board members are responsible for making sure the fund is run in line with rules set out in legislation.
In practical terms, Board members must by law:
Act in the best interests of all members and beneficiaries;
Invest the fund assets appropriately;
Ensure benefits are paid correctly and on time;
Ensure the fund has adequate financial backing; and
Exercise care, skill and diligence in decision making.
The staff of the Superannuation Board carry out the day-to-day running of FES Super. The Chief Finance Officer
and Fund Secretary is Mr Adrian Rutter who was appointed in May 2001.
